A Brief History of the Vape

Chances are, you've seen someone using a vape. They might be at a concert, in a park, or even at a table next to you in a restaurant. Vaping has become increasingly popular in recent years, but where did it come from? When was the first vape made? Let's take a look back at the history of this now ubiquitous device.

The first electronic cigarette was invented in 1963 by Herbert Gilbert. Gilbert's device was designed as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, and it worked by vaporizing nicotine instead of burning tobacco. However, Gilbert's cigarette never caught on, and it would be another 30 years before the idea was revisited.

In 2003, Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik created the first commercially successful e-cigarette. Lik was inspired to create his device after his father died of lung cancer, and he used ultrasonic technology to create a product that could be used indoors without bothering nonsmokers. Lik's company, Ruyan, began exporting its products to Europe and the United States in 2006.

The following year saw the introduction of the JUUL, which quickly became the most popular vaping device on the market. The JUUL is a small, sleek device that resembles a USB flash drive and can be easily concealed. It uses disposable pods filled with nicotine salt liquid, which gives users a strong nicotine hit without producing too much vapor.

Conclusion:

Vaping has come a long way since 1963, when Herbert Gilbert invented the first electronic cigarette. Today's devices are smaller, sleeker, and more powerful than ever before. And while there is still some debate about their safety, there's no denying that vaping is here to stay.
